What is songbattle.io?

At songbattle.io you can create your own music competition! It's the goal of the game to crown the best song out of multiple link submissions (from YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud or Suno). You can create your songbattle as a free-for-all, or you can give it a topic (for example 80s, movie soundtracks, etc.). All songs from your community or your friends battle against each other in a K.O.-system until only the winning song remains!

How do I join a game?

A game is always hosted by someone, for example by a Twitch streamer. That host will create a game via the home page and share a link you can visit or a game code that you can enter. You will need to sign in with your Twitch or Discord account. Once signed in, you can submit songs that you want to participate in the game.

How do I submit a song?

Once you have joined a game and are logged in (if required) you are directly connected to the submit page. You will see an input field, where you can either paste a YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud or Suno link or search for a keyword.

If you chose to paste a link you can just submit it by pressing enter.

For the search option you will get song recommendations as soon as you write the keyword. A tiny symbol next to the cover will show you, if the proposed song is from YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud or Suno. Your desired song is listed? Perfect! Now click the plus symbol on the right to submit the song to the battle.

Please note: Depending on how the host has set up the game, you may also add more songs than just one. Be quick though, the number of songs per game is limited by the host!

Can I use songbattle.io for my Twitch-Streams?

If you are a Twitch streamer you will love songbattle.io! This browser game is perfect for every livestream, including best possibilities for interaction with your viewers. Provide your audience a gripping competition to watch, let them send in their favourite songs and/ or include them in the decision making process.

As a streamer you represent the host and start a game. Contribute the game-link directly to your viewers via the Twitch-chat and wait for the lobby to fill! In case you can't reach the song limit you are able to regulate the limit down or even start with empty slots. You want to guarantee full concentration to your chat and not the settings and co? No problem! Just ask your moderators to help you.

Please note: to use all features of songbattle.io a Twitch login is required for you and your moderators.

Are songbattles only made for streamers or can I just play with my friends as well?

Of course you can just play a private game with songbattle.io! We always recommend a login, not least to keep the in-game overview over all participants - if you do not own a Twitch account you can just use the Discord login!

Discord can be the perfect platform for private songbattle rounds as well! Use our Discord server or your own, get cosy in one voice channel together, let the host share the screen and get started for your very own songbattle party!

Can I host a game myself?

Sure you can! You can create a new game on the homepage. Once created, you can modify various settings, before sharing the link or game code with your Twitch audience or friends. Now you are ready to start a funny community-game with Twitch viewers or an exciting song-competition with your friends! They can directly send in some songs and the songbatle can begin!

How do I set up a game?

Once you have created a game, various options will be presented to you. The most important settings affect the song limitation and will be found as “basic settings”. Use the prevented slide bars to set:

  • How many songs should participate in one songbattle and
  • How many songs each player can submit

Furthermore you shall decide which of the supported music suppliers (YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud or Suno) your participants can use and if you require a login from your participants. All further settings are listed as “advanced settings” and can be changed during a songbattle round as well. If this is your first time hosting a game you will receive our recommendations for these settings.

How do I start a game?

Once you have completed the settings and enough players have submitted songs to your game, you can get started. Starting the game will put all submitted songs into 1-VS-1 battles, and from there on, it is your job to select the better song.

I am a moderator in a Twitch stream. Can I help the streamer in a songbattle?

Yes, of course! To optimise the experience for streamers we offer a special mod-view. We check the moderators of every Twitch-streamer during game-creation. If the host enables the mod-view the moderators obtain special rights for the particular battle to help the streamer with the settings or control the songlist for inappropriate submissions. If a moderator changes a setting, the host will get a notification.

Take for granted that every moderator can participate in any songbattle as usual. While you look at the mod view you may see the tab 'Your songs' which you can click to see the standard submission view.

How do I listen to the music?

In each battle, you will see two songs, on the left and on the right. They are presented as Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music, SoundCloud or Suno players. You can use the play buttons to play the songs before deciding which one you like more, or before starting a poll.

I can only listen to a preview of a Spotify song. Is there something wrong?

To listen to the full song on Spotify, you will need to sign in to Spotify in your browser. If you are not signed in, the player will only play a short preview of the song. It will also show a link that allows you to sign in. Make sure to refresh the songbattle.io page subsequently!

How do I select a winner?

By starting a game you always get two songs opposed from which you have to send one to the next round. Therefore you can either choose your personal favourite or ask the chat for their opinion. To conduct the decision you can use the 'Choose' button to select the song as the winner of the battle. You will then advance to the next battle.

Once all songs have been played in a round, the winning songs will compete against each other again, until only one winner remains.

Can I let my viewers vote?

Of course! If you are a Twitch streamer, you can let your viewers decide which songs should win. You can either let them vote by typing '1' or '2' in chat, or you can let us start a Twitch poll in your chat for you, depending on your settings. Please note that the latter requires you to be a Twitch affiliate or partner. You can start chat voting or a poll by pressing the poll button in-between the two song players.

Why do I need to sign in with my Twitch or Discord account?

Every host obtains the possibility to set a Twitch or Discord login as required for participants. We recommend this setting for everyone to acquire more safety by proven Twitch or Discord accounts. This can help to prevent bots and spammers from submitting unwanted songs in your games or manipulate them in other ways. Also, by signing in with Twitch or Discord, you can also see who submitted which song, and guarantee the best possible support.

More info

Please note: Especially for streamers who want to start a songbattle in a livestream the Twitch login is mandatory to get access to every feature.

How is my Twitch or Discord information used?

We use information from your Twitch or Discord account to identify you on the songbattle page. To do so, we will use your username and profile picture, which may appear during games you participate in. Also, if you are a streamer yourself, we have various features built into songbattle.io to help you out. To enable you to use these features, you necessarily have to use the Twitch login instead of the discord option. Thereby we are able to obtain some more information such as who your moderators are and the Affiliate or Partner status. Furthermore you agree to let us open polls in your Twitch chat, when you wish to create a poll in your game.
